Can't beat it...

The same weekend that the Northeast got blasted with an October blizzard, we were enjoying beautiful weather.

The sun was shining, cool temps and a slight breeze in the air, perfect day for fall yard work. I personally mowed for that last time, moving leaves and getting mower put away for the season.

Autumn is beautiful on the plateau.

The change is here

If you have never experienced autumn in Eastern Tennessee, you are missing out.  Yes, the North Eastern part of the United States has a big reputation for fall foliage but do not underestimate us.
There is always that one day when you just feel the change in the air. Football season is upon you, you need a jacket in the mornings and the air smells different.
Soon leaves are changing, as they are now, autumn decorations are coming out into the yards and you are thinking about your first pot of chili of the year.
The glorious Smokey Mountains are nearby to take in
the changing of the leaves.  There is glorious beauty just driving around Cumberland County and especially in Fairfield Glade.  That normal route to Crossville, a friend's home or to church has now been transformed.  Just stop for a moment and take it in.
Places change with the changing of the leaves. Even after they have dropped you may see things that you may not have seen before because the leaves were still in place.
There are always autumn festivals going on within short drive of FFG. Even apple picking down on the mountain in Pikeville.
So don't think of autumn as the prelude to winter, think of it as different canvas Mother Nature has provided.  Just stop and take the change in.

Beauty is always around, you just have to take a moment to see it.
